FIVE NATIONAL PRIORITIES FOR DON BOSCO SCHOOLS OF INDIA (2025–2028)

Drawn from the Takeaways of the 7th NECDBS – Shillong, 6-8 November 2025

1. VALUE-BASED AND HOLISTIC EDUCATION

•Goal: Reinforce Don Bosco’s holistic model of education that forms “good Christians and honest citizens.”

•Action Steps:

o Integrate moral, spiritual, and civic values within the school curriculum.

o Establish programmes for lay collaboration and youth participation in the school mission.

o Promote activities that develop character, empathy, and social responsibility among students.

• Expected Outcome: Schools that are not only centres of learning but also communities of faith, service, and transformation.

2. FORMATION AND MENTORING OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERS

• Goal: Build a strong cadre of competent and value-driven principals, vice-principals, and educators.

• Action Steps:

o Launch nationwide mentoring and leadership formation programmes for school heads and educators.

o Include Salesian Pedagogy and the Preventive System as core components of leadership training.

o Encourage peer mentoring networks across provinces for the sharing of best practices.

• Expected Outcome: A new generation of leaders inspired by Don Bosco’s educational vision—faith-filled, competent, and compassionate.

3. GREEN ALLIANCE AND ECOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION

• Goal: Foster ecological awareness and sustainability across all Don Bosco institutions.

• Action Steps:

o Implement the Salesian Green Policy and promote Green Campuses in every province.

o Integrate environmental education into the curriculum and extracurricular life.

o Conduct annual ecological audits and sustainability reviews.

o Put UNESCO quality standard for schools in Green Alliance.

• Expected Outcome: Environmentally responsible schools that model care for creation and lead community-level green initiatives.

4. CHILD PROTECTION AND SCHOOL WELL-BEING

• Goal: Ensure every Don Bosco institution is a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

• Action Steps:

o Implement and periodically review Child Protection and Child Rights Policies.

o Strengthen protection of women and vulnerable groups within school settings.

o Launch Wellness and Mental Health programmes for students, teachers, and administrators.

• Expected Outcome: Safe campuses that uphold dignity, justice, and well-being for every member of the school community.

5. DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND HYBRID LEARNING

• Goal: Equip Don Bosco schools to embrace 21st-century educational technology and innovation.

• Action Steps:

o Introduce centralized ERP systems for school management and data integration.

o Train teachers and principals in digital pedagogy, AI integration, and hybrid learning models.

o Promote Project Carte Blanche and digital literacy programmes in line with NEP 2020.

• Expected Outcome: Digitally empowered campuses and educators, leading to efficient management and enriched student learning experiences.

These five strategic priorities - Digital Transformation, Leadership Formation, Green Alliance, Child Protection, and Value-Based Education - offer a roadmap for the Don Bosco Schools of India to move forward with unity, purpose, and prophetic vision over the next three years. Together, they express the enduring mission of Don Bosco: to educate by evangelizing and evangelize by educating.
