Don Bosco Mirik gets Best School Award

Don Bosco School Mirik was hailed the best school in North Bengal in the category of schools under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education at 4th Minervaa Edu Achievement Awards held at Montana Vista, Uttarayon in Siliguri, North Bengal.

Other categories of schools awarded for Educational Excellence at the event held on Sunday 3rd February included ICSC, ISC and CBSE Boards.

”Our school was selected for student performance in academic excellence as well as infrastructure facilities like digital classrooms, spacious labs, play grounds, co-curricular activities, and auditorium,” said Principal Fr Ashis Das.

The students’ performance in inter-school events like Badminton, Table Tennis and Basket Ball organised by Mirik Sports Association has been outstanding.

Earlier, Teacher Sandhya Gurung was awarded for Excellence in Teaching by S. Chand Publications in New Delhi.

The first batch of Higher Secondary students of the school are due to appear for exams in March 2019. There are a total of 54 students appearing for exams: 44 for Arts and 10 for Science.

”We have taken extra care for the first batch of students with additional coaching classes during Summer, Puja and Winter holidays,” says Fr Das who got Mr Apoorva Chatterjee from Pune to teach Science students in Maths and Physics.

Prior to his stint at Mirik, Fr Das was principal at St John’s Higher Secondary School Bandel, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Azimganj and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Krishnagar.
